Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
Any
person living within our parish is welcome to have a wedding or
baptism in either St Stephen & St Thomas church or St Michael
& St George church. Funerals may also be conducted at either
church if requested. We will always do our best to accommodate your
wedding at a date that suits you, but please note that we do not
usually perform weddings or baptisms during Advent and Lent.
If you wish to arrange a baptism for your child please complete the Baptism application form and return it to the Parish Secretary. You will then be invited to attend baptism preparation classes one evening a week for 3 weeks, following which a date for baptism may be selected. Baptisms are normally held on the fourth Sunday in the month. A thanksgiving service for the birth of a child can also be arranged. The next baptism course is on June 11th, 18th & 25th.
Banns are read out in church at the 10 am service on three Sundays during the three months before your wedding. You would be most welcome to join the church community for the service and to hear them read, and it would be appreciated if you could do this. The banns must be read in the parish where each of you lives as well as the church in which you are to be married if that is in another parish. If you wish to arrange for banns to be read please complete the Banns application form and return it to the Parish Secretary - who will acknowledge receipt and advise the dates your banns will be read.
