(Thought for the Week 2 September 2007)

The reading for this week (Luke 14:7-14) is Jesus encouraging us not to always grab the best seats for ourselves . It is a plea to us not to put ourselves forward the whole time and to give other people a chance to shine; in other words can we be humble? Humility is derived from the Latin word ‘humus’ which means fertile ground. The fertile ground gets manure put on it and grows flowers as a result. In other words it brings out the best from the worst that is dumped on to it – try it out yourselves with other people.

Ray Jones, a striker at QPR, was killed along with three others in a car crash on Saturday morning. Everyone at the club is badly shaken please pray for their families, friends and for everyone at the club

Weekly reflections on the Gospel for the coming Sunday are available on request. They will come once a week and will never be more than 200 words. If you would like to receive these emails then please email the Parish Secretary
