The Gospel passage for this Sunday is on two parables told by Jesus about being lost and found. Our God is in the business of seeking and finding the lost, his heart reaches the corners of the world. This is the purpose of Jesus’ mission – ‘The Son of man came to seek and save what was lost,’ (Luke 19:10). Who are the lost in our society or in our community? Drug addicts, alcoholics, refugees, consumerists and countless others! Jesus is the Good Shepherd, he offers them hope, forgiveness and a transformed new life when there is nothing but sin and hopelessness around them. Just as the woman in the parable lights a lamp to find the coin, the Body of Christ is called to be the light for those who have lost their way. We represent Christ wherever we live and work. But how would you behave towards those who give you nothing?
Weekly reflections on the Gospel for the
