The passage for this week is on the second coming. It looks at the turmoil, division and dissension that will come in its wake. It paints a grim picture of argument, misunderstanding and confusion within families.
We can easily assume that arguments and disagreement mean that things are going wrong, but they can just as easily mean that things are going right. They are an indication that people care about what is going on – the greater the hope and expectations people have, the greater will be their subsequent disappointment if things don’t work out.
The opposite of love is not hatred; it is apathy.
Weekly reflections on the Gospel for the coming Sunday are available on request. They will come once a week and will never be more than 200 words. If you would like to receive these emails then please email the Parish Secretary
